| Wiki for Coding / Information |
Jan 19, 2006 03:09 |
A decent number of people have expressed the need for a better style of community documentation, and a wiki seemed perfect for this. So, I have created a Wiki that encapsulates coding and documentation from various related projects.
As a bonus, the AMX Mod X documentation has also been moved to the wiki, so you won't have to post bug reports for syntax/semantic errors anymore. Furthermore, you can write articles about scripting and not have to worry about them being lost in the forums forever.
The wiki is located at http://wiki.amxmodx.org/
Some notes: - Forum accounts are not related to wiki accounts
- 1.65 will no longer ship with a .chm file, but stripped installation instructions
- A wiki account is required to edit/create articles
- Read the Rules before jumping into editing
- Use to escape Pawn code, if you wish
Other notes: Do not write articles about your plugin(s) unless you are writing documentation, at which point it should be clearly marked.
If you have any ideas/suggestions about the wiki, please contact me through PM.
I would like to thank Freecode for helping me flesh out most of the initial content as well as continuing to do our graphic art work. |

| New Forum, Release Update |
Dec 12, 2005 23:23 |
The upcoming release has been delayed to "before Christmas". In an odd turn of events, I happen to be going to Winter CPL this year, which is in Dallas, Texas. Since this eats up my time from Dec 13th-19th I can't be around to test, package, and release.
If any professional CS players here are attending this event, I hope to see you there! Unless you've been banned from the forums! In which case please stay away from me! ;)
Furthermore, I've added a new plugin forum where the Plugin Team will be placing old, abandoned, or unapproved plugins. This will help us approve and sort new plugins much faster.
Lastly, you might remember the "Official Server" idea we bounced around in Off-Topic about two months ago. This idea didn't die; Basic-Master and I decided to work on a custom mod for and launch it after 1.65 was released. BM informs me that we're very close to finishing "GabenMod", a new style of class system plugin for AMX Mod X, which will be released to the public once the server goes live (most likely shortly after 1.65 is released).
So, hopefully we'll have some of our own gifts for the community by the new year! |

| Web Compiler Fixed, Upcoming Release |
Nov 30, 2005 04:05 |
The web compiler has been broken for the past week or so. It is now fixed. I apologize for the inconvenience, but due to holidays and extended work I could not fix it right away. As a small bonus, it now shows compile errors for plugins posted in the forums.
In other news, we are expecting to release AMX Mod X 1.65 within the next two weeks. It will be a bug-fix only release with only minor feature additions, though we've made extended efforts at improving optimization with regards to tasks, string formatting, and language translations. 1.65 will be locked for new bug reports in five days, so if you have any legitimate problems, now is the time to make sure you've reported them as possible bugs.
If developers have any questions as to scripting changes, please visit the stickied changes thread in the scripting forum. |

| New Server and Hosting |
Nov 14, 2005 15:42 |
I'm pleased to announce that finally, after two years, I've moved AMX Mod X onto new hosting. This was a large transition of the entire server to a new machine and location, and I took the opportunity to also redo how the webserver operated. As such, you may experience some bugs in the forums (SQL failed queries, pages dying). If these do happen, please e-mail me with details at .
This move is a large step towards future plans we have. Our previous host was initially temporary and we ended up using it for two years. The server was taped together from donations after a hardware crisis, the bandwidth and uptime came from a university that had heavy restrictions. I look forward to expanding what we can offer with this shiny new professional hosting.
Thanks to everyone who continues to donate to AMX Mod X!
Note:
1. You must now access CVS from http://cvs.tcwonline.org/
2. This move fixes a bug where plugins could download corrupt. |

| 64bit AMX Mod X Fixes |
Oct 18, 2005 16:47 |
It was discovered today that the 64bit port of AMX Mod X had problems that needed to be addressed immediately. Scripts that rely on large or negative numbers from functions may have very odd or wrong results.
It is highly recommended that 64bit users upgrade their versions of AMX Mod X. Here is a URL to the new binaries (AMX Mod X, Engine, CSX, and Fakemeta are affected):
http://www.amxmodx.org/amxmodx-1.60a.tar.gz
The version numbers for these binaries will show up as "1.60a".
Note - this only pertains to people running AMX Mod X in 64bit mode. That means 64bit Linux servers, almost always running Counter-Strike. |
