SmallEd Apr 17, 2004 09:26
Here are some news about SmallEd from Que^:

SmallEd is NOT dead!

SmallEd is still very much alive, with this newsitem I encourage you to write down everything that a "Small Editor" needs and what features you would like to se in such a program.

There is no release-date on when I will release the new SmallEd version, reallife is always number one priority.

Everything (almost atleast) from last SmallEd version will be in this version too, some of the new features include:
  • Improved GUI (docking windows, toolbars) fully customizable
  • More interaction with the Small Compiler
  • Automatic highlight of matching braces (with help from PM, ty!)
  • Intellisense have been greatly improved
  • Plugins and user-specific tools
  • ... and some other minor features.

Now, go ahead write down what you want to see in this editor, but keep in mind that this is a Small Editor, its not created for AMX/AMXX/AdminMod.

Back Online Apr 12, 2004 23:37
The server should be, for the most part, fully back online!

Thank you very much to everyone who donated, I was amazed at the generosity and response of the community. If you donated, please PM me with your username and donation amount so I can add you to a special forums group (if you want, if I don't hear from you I will assume you want to remain anonymous).

Thanks for your support, and please PM me if there are any problems (such as with the web compiler or forums).

The new equipment includes an Opteron 142 + Asus SK8N motherboard, so there will be official Metamod and AMXx 64bit releases for the next release.

Downtime Apr 04, 2004 19:47
Well, this sucks.

At 12:30AM last night the server's motherboard had some sort of catastrophic failure. Big Brother (bb.tcwonline.org) is dead. This server housed, besides about 15 hosts, 8 CVS repositories, and AMX Mod X, all of my personal files and my compile farm for packaging.

I took the machine from the lab around 2PM and no data is lost (thankfully) but the actual machine itself is completely dead (CPU+mboard, Gigabyte 7VXRP, AMD XP 2400+).
In the meantime to get AMXx forums back up I have sacrified my personal computer by throwing the BB drives into it. I can't have this as a permanent solution because now I have no computer.

So, I'll get to the point: I need to rebuild the server, but I'm broke. If you would like to help you can click here to donate to AMXx, and I'll use the funds to buy new equipment. All I need is a cheap AMD board or something for now, but if I get enough, I'll get an Opteron board so we can go full speed ahead with 64bit versions. I'll talk with Sniperbeamer about setting up some sort of incentive for donors (i.e. special forum privileges or recoginition or something).

If you have any suggestions as to what hardware to get, please post them here. Also, post suggestions for the name of the next server ;]

Thanks, and sorry for the downtime.

*Edit: No, I don't want hosting. I need to have the security of having physical and total unobstructed root access to a server so I have complete control over it. Don't offer me web hosting please.

Official Testing Team Apr 03, 2004 16:53
The door is now open for an Official AMX Mod X Testing Team.

We are making this team so we can stress test internal development releases before they hit the public. The job of a tester is to install these binaries and report any and all problems or lack of problems they have. The binaries/scripts will usually be debug versions that output information we need, and you may also need to test with some of the larger plugins that take AMXx to the limits (WC3, CSDM, etc).

PM SniperBeamer or BAILOPAN with a short description of what you have available, your experience, and your time availability.
Requirements:
  • You have access to a well played, well monitored Half-Life server.
  • You know how to properly administrate your operating system and are capable of submitting detailed reports of what happens when something goes wrong.
  • You have the time to try out highly alpha internal binaries/test scripts we put out.
  • To put it simply - no noobs. People with a strong knowledge of scripting or decent development/beta testing background are important.

Thanks for your support!

** ADDED: Do not spam, post unrelated questions, post answers (unless you are part of the AMX Mod X Dev.Team). Incorrect posts has been and will be deleted.
